Level Two Peel- Lactic Acid
Lactic acid is a rising star in the skin care world and one of the most popular alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) available.
Lactic acid is naturally found in dairy products; it’s what gives yogurt and soured milk that distinctive tang. Historically, dairy products have been used by people across the world to soften and beautify the skin.
As a Level 2 professional peel, Sothys Lactic Acid Pro Peel has been designed to resurface superficial lines and wrinkles and stimulate cell rejuvenation as part of Sothys holistic approach to skin management.
Unlike many store bought skin care products that contain low levels of lactic acid (typically 5-10%), the Sothys Lactic Acid Peel is formulated with 50% Lactic acid to provide an intensive skin peeling particularly for mature or ageing skin types, with immediate results.
Allantoin and Cotton seed extract are included to offer softening and calming.

Dermal Treatment FAQs
-
Micro-needling is a medical treatment that uses tiny needles to puncture the skin. Our therapists use Dermatech Micro-needling devices to diminish:
- Acne scars
- Dark spots
- Large pores
- Sagging skin
- Scars due to surgery or an injury
- Stretch marks
- Uneven skin texture and tone
- Wrinkles and fine lines
Microneedling is minimally invasive and safe for all skin tones. It works by stimulating your body to make collagen. This is why it’s also called “collagen induction therapy.” -
Your skin may feel warm to touch immediately after your procedure and 3-5 days later become a little dry and flaky. This is a completely normal process due to the dead skin cells being stimulated upwards. Once this process is finished, your skin will feel softer and look radiant.
Following your Skin Needling treatment, you can expect some redness and slight swelling around the areas that have been treated. Your skin may feel warm to touch, like a mild sunburn sensation. This should last no longer than a day or two.
Three to five days after your Skin Needling procedure you may notice that your skin becomes a little dry and flaky. This is a completely normal process due to the dead skin cells being stimulated upwards. Avoid picking the skin and apply moisturiser 2-3 times per day. Once this process is finished your skin will feel softer and look radiant, as though you have had a great exfoliation.
Skin Needling stimulates your body to produce natural collagen and elastin, which continues for up to 12 weeks after your treatment. Individual results vary, with some patients noticing a discernible difference within a few weeks and others needing several treatments. However, your results will continue to improve months after your initial treatment and will last until your skin goes through its natural ageing process.
AVOID SUN EXPOSURE
Your skin will be much more sensitive to the sun for several weeks after your Skin Needling treatment. To prevent adverse effects, you must stay out of the sun at all times.
We do not advise the use of sunscreen immediately after the procedure as the skin channels are completely open and will absorb anything that is applied. However, you can apply a mineral sunscreen once the skin has healed over, approximately 24 hours after your Skin Needling treatment. -
The Skin Needling procedure will leave your skin in a highly sensitive state, so we recommend that you avoid all skin care products that contain any kind of ‘active ingredients’ such as retinol, alpha hydroxyl acids and Vitamin C.
You can incorporate these products back into your regime 3-5 days after your treatment, or as recommended by your experienced therapist. -
Don’t apply any kind of makeup for at least 24 hours to 48 hours after the procedure as it’s important to allow your skin barrier to heal over.
Using make up brushes can irritate the open skin, and if there’s any bacteria on the brushes you run the risk of developing a skin infection. -
A Skin Needling procedure will cause heat in the skin as a natural stage of healing. If you sweat or partake in any activities that make you hot, it will create further unwanted heat in the skin. It may also allow bacteria to penetrate the skin. This can lead to infection, extended redness or an adverse skin reaction.
-
Prior to and immediately after Skin Needling procedures you should avoid the use of anti-inflammatory medications, such as Ibuprofen, as they will interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is needed for optimum skin rejuvenation.
-
At Australian Laser & Skin Clinics we always recommend that you drink plenty of water both before and after the procedure. Keeping well hydrated will assist in faster healing and skin rejuvenation.
-
While it’s important to give the sunscreen a miss for the first few days following the procedure, we do advise that you use a broad-spectrum sunscreen once your skin has healed, to prevent unwanted pigmentation and sun damage.

LED (light-emitting diode) light therapy is a non-invasive treatment that enters the skin’s layers to improve the skin. In the 1990s, NASA began studying LED’s effects in promoting wound healing in astronauts by helping cells and tissues grow. Light Emitted Diode (LED) Light Therapy is a deep penetrating, soothing skin treatment ideal for improving skin health, fighting acne causing bacteria, overall skin rejuvenation, reducing the visible signs of ageing and boosting your skin’s healing response.
Perfect as stand-alone treatments or as add-ons to boost results of other skin treatments, our LED Light Therapy treatments can have you looking your best in no time at all.
Red light
Red, or infrared, light is used for treating the epidermis, which is the outer layer of skin. When the light is applied to your skin, the epidermis absorbs it and then stimulates collagen proteins.
In theory, more collagen means that your skin will look smoother and fuller, which can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Red LED light is also thought to reduce inflammation while improving circulation, which can give you a healthier glow.
Blue light
Blue LED light therapy, on the other hand, targets the sebaceous glands, which are also called oil glands. They’re located beneath your hair follicles.
Sebaceous glands are necessary for lubricating your skin and hair so that it doesn’t dry out. However, these glands can become overactive, leading to oily skin and acne.
The theory is that blue LED light therapy can target these oil glands and make them less active. In turn, you may see fewer acne breakouts. Blue light can also kill acne-causing bacteria beneath the skin, which can help treat severe acne pimples, including cysts and nodules.
Oftentimes, blue LED light is used in conjunction with red LED light to:
- help treat acne
- decrease scarring
- promote anti-inflammatory effects

LED light therapy is noninvasive, so no recovery time is required. You should be able to continue with your everyday activities once your treatment is over.

First and foremost, you should know that this is a deep exfoliation treatment. You can compare it to microdermabrasion in the sense that the goal of this treatment is to remove the top-most layer of skin cells from the face to reveal a new layer of skin. But unlike traditional exfoliation techniques, this treatment plainly addresses the problem of dull skin cells by using a scalpel to scrape off that top layer.
That’s right – a surgical scalpel is the main tool that is used for this treatment. But don’t worry, this treatment is strictly non-invasive and completely painless. This treatment produces a renewed and glowing complexion without fail every time without any need for harsh chemicals or scrubs. For deep exfoliating, there is no better or easier treatment available anywhere.
Benefits of Dermaplaning
This is the simplest, quickest, and least invasive treatment you can get at any med spa anywhere. The fact that this treatment is painless and totally non-invasive is one of the biggest draws for many patients and one of the most attractive benefits of the treatment, as well.
Other benefits of this treatment include:
- Renewed complexion
- Deeper product penetration for serums and creams
- Smoother, more evenly toned skin
- Removal of dead, pore-clogging skin
- Removal of peach fuzz
- Smoother make-up application
- Reduced acne scarring
- Minimised fine lines
There are a few benefits of this treatment that were somewhat unexpected, right? While this treatment will mainly remove dead skin cells to promote a renewed, glowing, smooth, and more evenly toned complexion, it will also minimise the appearance of fine lines, especially lines around the mouth and on the forehead.
This treatment is sometimes offered as a first step for anti-aging treatments for this reason. Nothing indicates aging skin quite so well as a dull complexion and fine lines – this treatment addresses both. -
After treatment, your skin will be vulnerable. The skin revealed by the treatment is new to the world, so it will be especially sensitive for 3 days to a week after treatment. To take care of your skin, it is important you follow the simple aftercare advice we give you. Post-treatment guidelines include:
- Avoid direct sun exposure for 3 days
- Avoid extreme heat for 3 days
- Do not use scrubs or other exfoliators for 1 week
- Avoid chlorine for 1 week
- Apply serums and moisturisers
- Use sunscreen
The post-treatment care instructions are mostly a list of things to avoid to take care of the new skin. We may have additional guidelines for you to follow, such as specific products that should and should not be used. -
How often you get this treatment depends on your natural rate of skin cell turn over. For most people, this treatment should be done once a month to continue to see the best results. For those with sensitive skin, we may recommend that you space your appointments 6 weeks apart. Our expert staff will help you determine the right amount of time you should place between appointments.
